What Is Reiki?
REIKI is a form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The guided energy that radiates from the hands of the practitioner flows to the client and creates a noticeable relaxation effect that encourages the bodys own healing response. REIKI is often chosen as one type of alternative medicine that promotes personal wellness by treating the whole person.REIKI practitioners do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe substances or perform medical treatment, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional for any physical or psychological ailment you may have.
REIKI was originated in Japan in 1922 by MIKAO USUI. REIKI has been practiced in the United States since 1970.
In California, REIKI is often combined with other types of alternative medicine such as a massage, reflexology, wellness centers and other therapeutic touch as examples. REIKI as complementary alternative medicine is being offered by private practitioners, by hospitals, by wellness centers, by healing arts centers, and by doctors in the continuing effort to "treat the whole person"
Translation of the meaning of REIKI is "Gods Intelligent Guided Life Energy" and is considered to be the energy behind everything and manifests in many different ways. Humans, animals, food, water, air, earth, sunlight, and so forth all have their own kind of God given KI energy.
In Japan, the life energy that is called KI (Pronounced KEY), manifests in the variuos human qualities and characteristics, including our physical bodies, feelings, thoughts and states of mind. Most of the kinds of "KI" (Life Energy) within our physical body, mind, and emotions, are affected by our conscious or unconscious thoughts and feelings, whether they are positive or negative. This relationship between our mind and "KI" (Life Energy) plays an important role in the quality of our sense of daily personal wellness and in the kind of the life we choose to live.
